Dearest family and friends,
So I just read Ellyns email from last week and how I love that she and I are practically the same person! I have been so excited for Christmas and have been singing all day long and other people think Im trunky to call home, but I just want to sing!! The heat is killing me as well, but I just smile and wave! Our investigators seemed to disappear, too, and I have a scripture from Mosiah 2 to share with you! I just love my sister!!!
Onto the crazies before the spirituality:
Monday I counted 25 bug bites around my body. I use repellent, but I guess my fan was on my face only so not only have I been getting sick a lot, but the bugs were attacking my hot body. hahah you know what I mean.
We killed another rat and I freaked out yet again. Some pictures to share with you.
And the best of all the best, I ate cow nipple yesterday for lunch. Yup. And it was kind of good. Hhahahahah I love the mission!!!
I get so excited each week because I hear of so many more mission calls! Thanks for keeping me updated family. I love the work of the Lord. This week, while many of our investigators stopped talking to us, we had a baptism. Dulce is an 8 year old who is just so sweet! Hahah pun. Her family is part member, but she just loves the gospel. I got to confirm her on Sunday and I just want to tell you all that the gift of tongues is real. Its not creepy. Its a gift God gives to people who need His help to preach the gospel. And I have improved so much the past twelve weeks. I love the Lord and his tender mercies.
As I was waiting for my companion to change after the baptism, I walked into the room and saw that people were just chilling and talking when the Spirit should have been present and entering their hearts after that moment! So I simply got up, and asked if I could sing a song. This is what I sang from the Childrens Songbook of the church:
My life is a gift. My life has a plan. MY life has a purpose, in heaven it began. My choice was to come to this lovely home on Earth and seek for Gods light to direct me from birth. I will follow Gods plan for me, holding fast to his word and his love. I will work and I will pray. I will always walk in his way. And I will be happy on Earth and in my home above.
How short, and sweet are these lyrics to help us know our purpose on this great Earth. In Mosiah, a prophet and King named Benjamin offered the following advice that I echo myself.
I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual, and if they hold out faithful to the end, they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of neverending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true.
Each day this week, I invite each of you to consider the blessings youve received from keeping Gods commandments. And when prompted, I invite you to share your feelings regarding these blessings with someone in need of your love. I promise you that as you do this, not only will your love for the Savior grow, but the person with whom you share your testimony will feel an inreased sense of gratitude for the blessings of God.
Happy Veterans Day, Happy thanksgiving, and Happy Christmas!
I know the Lord loves each of you. I know he wants you to talk to Him each day. This is my last week as a new missionary, and after this week, I will be just another missionary trying to change the world. You all can do the same. Change the world. Just a step at a time.
Con amor,
Elder Risueño
Pictures: Rats. and me. I hate them.
Another is of a picture from the Powers family. I love this and am so grateful for it.
The next few are from the baptism I had! Grandpas tie was with me both days because it was an important day. :)
another one is my love for anti monkey butt powder. For future missionaries that go to hot areas with food that gives you diarrhea, this thing is a must have! THANKS MOM!
